At Sparky Nearby, we’re all about keeping your home safe, healthy and mould-free, rain or shine. So, if you’re dealing with those pesky damp issues, we’ve got the solutions to help you beat them.

How to Resolve Mould and Damp Issues

At Sparky Nearby, we understand that dampness and mould can pose serious problems for your home and your health. It’ll also save on your heating and cooling bill as there will be less humidity in the air so it won’t feel as cold in winter and hot in summer. So that’s why we’re committed to offering comprehensive solutions to tackle these damp issues head-on. Let’s explore how we can help keep your home dry:

  • Underfloor Exhaust Fans: Moisture tends to accumulate beneath the house, such as crawl spaces or store rooms. Once it’s damp down there though, it tends to stay damp! The solution for this is to install a system of underfloor exhaust fans which help improve ventilation and exhaust the humid air that was stuck under there.
  • Bathroom & Laundry Exhaust Fans: Bathroom and laundry exhaust fans are often clogged up or even just not pumping enough air to keep your home dry. The solution could be a service call where we can clean out the fans and vents or perhaps a replacement fan is needed if the existing one is faulty or just not strong enough.
  • Kitchen Rangehood Exhaust Fans: The majority of kitchen exhaust fans are just “recirculating” fans which means they suck the oily air from above the stove, then filter it partially (not very well though!) and then blow it back into the room above the rangehood. The best solution by far is to exhaust the air from the rangehood in a duct through the wall so all the damp and oily air goes straight outside. Not only will it keep your house dryer, but it will also keep your kitchen cleaner by stopping oil buildups.
  • Moisture Barriers Under The Floor: When you have a really bad case of damp air underneath your house we can install a physical moisture barrier that stops almost all moisture from being able to evaporate up and seep through the floor structure and then get into your home. It’s highly effective but generally only needed in the worst case scenarios where there is lots of moisture running under a house.

Don’t let dampness and mould compromise the safety and comfort of your home. Sparky Nearby can offer a number of solutions if you are having mould or damp issues in and around your house!
